(No knitting content today.)
The weather has been... annoying, shall we say: 70 degrees this day, 90 the next, and back to 70 the day after. Plus there are the torrential rainstorms that provide lightning shows to rival the East River fireworks display. Luckily, the garden loves it.
Bachelor's buttons & echinacea; lavender & echinacea; grapes.
Mixed flowers including mini-daisies & a hot pink geranium; hanging basket including marigolds & a type of petunia; hanging basket including coral bells.
We also have visitors staying with us this summer.
My husband built three of these, and they are all occupied. Sparrows live in the other two, but in this front one, we have been graced with wrens. (Don't they have the best family name?) They are adorable little birds, with the vocal power of someone ten times their size. And our pair has successfully produced offspring. I haven't seen them yet, but we can all hear them talking to mom & dad. Since I've been known to terrorize wildlife, also, I sat about five feet from the arbor (next to the bachelors buttons & the echinacea, if you must know), and waited.
(Click on it & make it bigger. Did you see it?)
That parent finally emerged on clean-up duty (the photo's hidden; guess why). And just a minute or two later, someone came back with some yummy bugs for the babies:
Ah, nature. Now if only I could be as productive as it is...
